A Heritage Restoration is planned for the Haggatts ruins. Destiny Inc., whose creative team co-ordinated the Old Speighstown "Paint the Town" project under the auspices of the Barbados National Trust has planned a reclamation of the ruined buildings at Haggatts. The Barbados National Trust has offered support, advice and assistance with this component of the project. The Restoration of the Plantation House and other historical structures will be undertaken in the Heritage Signature, and archival photographs will document each stage of the process. This project is intended to foster linkages with other historical properties in Barbados and a Photo Essay is an integral aspect of the Vision Plan. It is projected thatthe Mulberrry Patch will integrate smoothly into Heritage Tourism Planning parameters. There are employment opportunities for persons who have worked or had a part to play in this aspect of the project's development. Many of these persons have gravitated towards the project and have offered advice and inputs. On Location Barbados has planned a television documentary detailing the history of the Plantation and its historical ties to Barbadian Heritage and Agriculture. Testimonials from former plantations residents will be stored in a Heritage vault format as many of the district's "griots" have wonderful stories to share of the historical Scotland district which have been passed from generation to generation. |
