In keeping with the global Eco and Heritage Tourism trends, there is the potential for the establishment of Nature trails at the Haggatts Plantation site. The vehicular trail has already been established, with safari type tour vehicles traversing the property on regular schedules. There is the added potential for foot and horse trails.

The opportunity also arises on this site for listing, highlighting and study of the indigenous flora and fauna through the establishment of formal gardens, mushroom huts and organic practices which would encourage indigenous wildlife to flourish in a safe environment. Site development is currently under considertion to include a Heritage Restoration of the ruined buildings. Once restored in the Heritage Signature, the buildings have the potential to house the proposed Interpretation and Information Centre, Library and Data Base and Conservatory.

Optimising the Centre would incorporate a residential component that would provide accommodation for visiting students, technical personnel and interested parties. A Retail Shop and Restaurant are also planned.

There have been expressions of interest from local tour companies whose intent is to collaborate on an agro-tour in Barbados.

The Mulberry Patch location would more than complement the development of our island's tourism potential
