Community wellness is a mindset that will be staunchly encouraged by the Mulberry Patch. The proposed residential facility will feature a Spa Component and Alternative Wellness Focus. Utilising indigenous healingherbs and growing our own neutriceuticals will be a key crop focus; we will brand and package our native Clay (Silk n' Clay) for cosmetic use and Alternative Treatment modalities will be available for locals and other interested parties as alternatives to chemicals. Branding and packaging local teas and spices are among the diversities of The Mulberry Patch five-year plan. In the interest of continued Wellness, Loofah, Aloe Vera preparations, cosmetic clays, herbal teas and tonics along with other related gift products are projected for retail. The potential exists for creating a retreat for persons seeking rest and relaxation in an agro setting while taking advantage of the opportunity for agro-aerobics, hiking, aqua and thelasso therapy, and organic eating. Our resource team includes a nutritionist and massage therapist, and the identified site offers a location which lends itself to nature walks and other activities paced for a diverse age group. There is also the potential for the elderly to reintegrate with the youth since the Barbados Association of Retired Persons will be encouraged to participate in activities geared towards sharing knowledge and interacting with the very young through story telling and other interactive presentations. A Heritage 'Griot' Documentary is planned to capture the oral histories and indigenous knowledge that would otherwise be lost. |
